Longtime Woodinville fire lieutenant retires

After over 31 years with Woodinville Fire & Rescue, Lt. Steve Cooke has decided to enjoy retirement. A longtime employee of the district, Cooke has made an impact on all those who worked with him over the years. In addition to working as a firefighter and lieutenant, Cooke also served in training, public education and fire prevention.

Man dies in Graham house fire; medical condition might have trapped him

A 63-year-old Graham man died Monday in a house fire when he was unable to escape. A medical condition might have kept the man from getting out of the home, Graham Fire & Rescue spokesman Steve Richards said. Tensions rise as Ohio town votes for fire department takeover

Tensions were heightened Monday at a meeting of the Springfield Township trustees. Dozens of citizens, including many from neighboring Spencer Township, attended the meeting to discuss the future of the Spencer Township Fire Department. At 7:42 p.m., the department’s fate was sealed. In a 2-1 vote, Springfield Township trustees voted to take over service of the Spencer Township Fire Department.
