A fire was caused by paper towels saturated with oil-based stain and rags disposed of in a large recycling bin in N. Spokane on Friday evening. Multiple evening commuters reported seeing smoke near N Whitehouse St. and W Wabash Ave. Firefighters found a large recycling bin fully involved with fire.

Authorities say they believe a fire at a church in Vancouver was intentionally set. Firefighters responded to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Friday morning after men arriving for a basketball game found the pulpit on fire. The Columbian reports crews arrived from a fire station around the corner from the church and were able to quickly put out the flames.
