Lynwood woman who was beaten, burned and left for dead takes witness stand

The victim of a horrific crime took the stand Wednesday and stared down the man accused of nearly killing her. Wednesday was the first time Brenda Welch has seen her ex-husband David Morgan since the night she was found unconscious inside his burning Lynnwood home in 2014. She had been severely beaten, doused in gasoline and set on fire when firefighters found her.

Spokane: Old Studio K building demolished after fire

A building on the South Hill that once housed the bar Studio K is now a pile of rubble. Investigators are trying to figure out what started a fire at the vacant strip mall at 29th and Regal Wednesday morning. Fire crews had to tear down what was left of the building because it was not safe to go inside to investigate.

Grant County (OR) Seeks Funds for Second Fire Station

The fire district commissioners approved putting two propositions on the April 26 special election ballot. Proposition 1 allows the fire district to sell $825,000 in bonds. The commissioners plan to use the money to build a new fire station in the southern portion of the fire district.

Property owners would pay 40 cents per $1,000 of assessed value more in property taxes to pay for the bonds.

Fire district 13 includes about 126 square miles around Ephrata, and operates out of one fire station.
