Customers and employees inside the Auburn Haagen Food Store were forced to evacuate when a fire broke out near the deli area at 5:52 p.m. Thursday.
No injuries were reported.
The store suffered significant smoke and water damage.
As Valley Regional Fire Authority crews approached the scene, they could see a large column of smoke coming from the store, located at 1406 Lake Tapps Parkway SE in the Lakeland Hills area of Auburn.

TransCare ambulances will soon stop responding to 911 calls across two of their busiest boroughs –– Manhattan and the Bronx.
The private ambulance company filed for Chapter 7 Wednesday, taking 27 ambulances out of service, which means 81 shifts need to be filled.
FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro said the department is prepared to pick up the slack.

Liberty Volunteer Fire District Assistant Chief Tony Roy isn’t apologizing for ordering a tanker truck to not respond to a Walton County Fire Rescue call for assistance fighting a house fire.
The county should have anticipated the reaction, Roy said, and unless it decides to start sending some money Liberty’s way, can expect more of the same in the future.

Clad in blue jeans and hooded sweatshirts, Stockton firefighters today battled a blaze that hit them where they live.
A witness reported seeing smoke coming from the village’s fire station around 11 a.m. Within minutes, volunteer firefighters were on scene and emergency responders from nearby agencies had been called to help save the headquarters of the Stockton Fire Department.
