The Prichard Fire Department is investigating two separate fires that burned early Sunday morning. The Mobile Fire Department helped put one of them out, and FOX10 News has learned that's because Prichard only had one operating fire truck Sunday.
Around the same time, the Mobile Fire Department was dealing with a fire on Peterson Road, two streets down from the first fire. We're told it's normal for Mobile firefighters to help with multiple fires in Prichard. However, Prichard spokesman, Phillip Stiell says since last week, Prichard only has one operating fire truck for the whole city, while the other two are getting repairs.
"As I understand it, the repairs that are necessary now are because something is worn out and needs to be replaced, but it's nothing that we aren't used to."
Stiell also says the department will be getting two more, bringing the total number of trucks for the city to five. One of them is from the Daphne Fire Department. In the meantime, Stiell says, the Mobile Fire Department or other city departments will help when needed.
