Fenton (MI) Fire Apparatus Sold to Doniphan City

The Fenton Fire Department received 14 inquiries from across the map about a used truck recently listed with Firetec Used Apparatus Sales.

The truck being sold is a used, 1999 Ford/EVI rescue truck. According to Fenton Fire Chief Bob Cairnduff, the rescue truck was replaced by a KME mini-pumper, which was put into service on Jan. 14.

The old truck was listed on Feb. 11 for $38,000, which is based on the value of the truck and the current market demand for this type of truck.

Fenton's new truck cost $221,000 but is a different style truck.

"The new one is a mini-pumper as well as a rescue truck," Cairnduff said. "The old one was simply a rescue truck, with no water or pump on it."

City officials unanimously approved the sale and Cairnduff's requests at their Monday night meeting. Cairnduff said he will call the fire department in Doniphan Tuesday morning so they can drive up to get it.

FDNY to Spend $5M to Reduce EMS Response Times

After EMS response times for life-threatening emergencies jumped by more than 20 seconds last year, the FDNY plans to spend $5 million on two pilot programs to handle what it calls a record number of emergency calls.

Starting this summer, the FDNY plans to use 10 “fly cars” — EMS supervisor SUVs carrying a paramedic — to emergencies in the Bronx ahead of ambulances, fire officials told the Daily News on Monday.

The Fire Department also plans to send out a “tactical response” group of 10 additional basic life support tours — ambulance teams staffed by EMTs, not paramedics — to neighborhoods in the Bronx experiencing the highest call volume.

Fire damages custom garage in Pierce County; RV and vehicles destroyed

A fire destroyed a custom garage, RV, and several vehicles near Sumner early Wednesday morning. East Pierce firefighters believe the fire started in the RV parked outside and spread to the roof of the garage on a property near the 8900 block of Riverside Drive. When they arrived, firefighters say there were several classic cars parked inside the garage and the homeowners were trying to open the doors to move stuff out.
