$1.3M for fire trucks on ballot in Gorham

Posted: Thursday, February 4, 2016 2:41 pm Gorham voters in June will decide in a referendum whether to borrow up to $1,365,000 to replace a pair of the town's aging fire trucks. Town councilors Tuesday unanimously 7-0 agreed to ask voters for up to $515,000 for a new tank fire engine, replacing one the town bought in 1989.

Two people, including a firefighter, hurt as flames destroy Puyallup home

Two people including a firefighter were treated for injuries after a fire destroyed a home overnight. Flames and smoke filled the house located on the 2200 block of South Meridian. A neighbor captured video of the fire as the smoke poured from the top floor. “If you looked at it you could just see that it looked like the house was going to collapse any second and all you could see were flames starting to go over the house,” said Sydnee O’Laughlin, witness.

Two D.C. firefighters reassigned after missing gunshot wound on patient

Two D.C. emergency medical technician firefighters were reassigned for failing to diagnose a gunshot wound to a patient they had treated and transported to a hospital Saturday night, D.C. Fire and Emergency Services officials said. Timothy Wilson, an agency spokesman, confirmed that two employees were reassigned to duties away from patient care following a preliminary investigation into an incident this weekend.

At least one killed, two seriously injured when construction crane collapses in New York City

PHOTO - A 38-year-old man was killed and two more seriously injured when a construction crane toppled over and smashed into a busy Tribeca street Friday morning, officials said. The crane crashed into a row of parked cars when it toppled onto Worth St. near Church St. about 8:30 a.m. as heavy snow fell onto the city.
