Deputies say woman missing after man stabbed parents, set fire in Snohomish County

Crews at the scene of a double stabbing near Snohomish don’t know the whereabouts of a woman who may have been trapped in a house fire. Snohomish County deputies say she and her husband were stabbed by their 29-year-old son Thursday night. Police say their son then set the house in the 2500 block of 153rd Avenue Southeast on fire.

Plaza man escapes from burning home

A Plaza man escaped a house fire late Thursday night, but suffered burns to his back and arms. Firefighters from Spokane County District 3 and Whitman County were called to the home, just north of Plaza, at around 10pm. They arrived to find the single wide manufactured home fully engulfed in flames.

FDNY Firefighters fined for accepting free 2014 Super Bowl tickets

Seven FDNY employees — including a deputy chief and three battalion chiefs — have been fined by the Conflicts of Interest Board for accepting free tickets to the 2014 Super Bowl at MetLife Stadium, officials said Monday. Firefighter John Curatolo got 52 freebies the night before the big game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos from NFL vice president of community relations and philanthropy Anna Isaacson.

Florida city says firefighters with waivers must shave

Nearly a dozen black firefighters in Jacksonville have been sent home for something they didn't do: shave. State rules require firefighters to have a clean-shaven face when they have to wear an oxygen mask. The rule falls in line with regulations from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration on wearing respirators.
