A huge three-alarm blaze destroyed several expensive boats and a building at a Seattle marina overnight, forcing dozens of people to evacuate and leave everything they have in the path of the inferno. Crews responded to the Westlake Marina on South Lake Union just after 1 a.m. Monday after receiving reports of a rapidly-spreading fire.

It may seem early in the season, but East County Fire & Rescue is doing some last-minute Christmas shopping.
The fire chief is leaving earlier than expected, and unless there’s a breakthrough in the hiring process, there won’t be a permanent chief to take his place until next year.
“June 16 is when I gave them notice,” interim Fire Chief Dean Thornberry said.

Dallas Fire-Rescue Chief Louie Bright III announced Friday that he will soon end a career that started in his hometown when he was 19 years old.
Bright’s retirement, effective March 30, will end a quiet four-year tenure marked by relative peace — excluding his leadership after a controversial line-of-duty death — in a department that had experienced strife in the prior decade.
