A man was seriously injured and several others are now left homeless after a two-alarm fire burned an apartment complex in Lakewood Monday morning.
Firefighters were called to the Pacific Ridge Apartments on Lincoln Ave. SW around 2 a.m. and arrived to find several units burning, said Jenny Weekes with West Piece Fire & Rescue.

There’s a new effort to help keep first responders safe and ultimately prevent the spread of the COVID-19 in Spokane.
Spokane Community Connect is a city-wide database that allows residents to enter information about their households for the Spokane Fire Department. SFD chief Brian Schaeffer said it is an exceptionally important tool to have during the pandemic.

It's not every day that you get to light a car on fire for your job, so Cowlitz 2 firefighters were burning with enthusiasm Thursday to do just that at the agency's Vine Street headquarters in Kelso. Firefighters breached a flaming cargo container stocked with wooden pallets and doused a blazing car frame hooked up to propane tanks.

Nobody was injured when a kitchen fire spread into the walls and a concealed ceiling space of a North Whidbey home Thursday morning.
Chief John Clark with North Whidbey Fire and Rescue said firefighters received the report of a fire at a North View Lane home at 10:21 a.m. His department responded with mutual aid from the Navy fire department and Central Whidbey Island Fire and Rescue.

The Seattle Fire Department will adapt to this year’s high-rise West Seattle Bridge closure by adding a medic team and a ladder-truck team west of the Duwamish River.
Those resources will help ensure a fast response to emergency calls despite that shutdown and potential slowdowns through the low-rise West Seattle swing bridge or First Avenue South Bridge, the department announced Friday.
