Neighboring Wisconsin fire departments air grievances

Village officials say public safety could be at risk if relations between the Rochester and Waterford fire departments are not improved. At a specially called meeting Monday at Rochester Village Hall, the Rochester and Waterford fire chiefs said they will consider breaking an automatic response mutual aid agreement due to problems between the organizations.

Fire Damages Apartment Building in Pasco

Pasco Firefighters are investigating after a fire damaged part of an apartment building Monday evening. The fire started around 4:00 p.m. in an upstairs unit on the 2100 block of W. Jay Street. Firefighters arrived to find flames coming from the eaves of the building at the Pine Crest Apartments. They were able to get the fire out in about 20 minutes but not before destroying at least one unit and damaging several others.

Fire officials credit smoke alarm for saving family from burning Poulsbo home

Fire officials are crediting a smoke alarm with helping save a mom and her toddler son from a burning home in Poulsbo Monday morning. The 25-year-old woman says as the alarm began to blare, she noticed smoke and flames coming from the basement. "I went downstairs to investigate and noticed flames coming from a wall, up near the ceiling," the woman told Poulsbo Fire officials.
