Sunnyside firefighters to train at Carnation plant

Other than a couple of winery forays, the doors to Sunnyside’s landmark Carnation plant have essentially been shuttered for decades. But they’ll open one more time in the next few weeks for Sunnyside firefighters to conduct training exercises at the soon-to-be demolished building at the corner of South First Street and Lincoln Avenue.

Video: Minnesota crews pull off breathtaking rescue in rugged terrain

The orange jump-suited rescuers are first seen leaving the ground, suspended beneath a helicopter. They land near the crumpled figure of a 61-year-old Stillwater woman, injured on rugged terrain during a hike near Lake Superior. The two rescuers wrap her in a mummy-shaped carrier, then the three are lifted and carried to safety.

Allegations of Florida firefighters cheating on tests

An alleged cheating ring involving Orange County firefighter made use of a website sources described as a collection of test questions. The website has the same questions that would show up during certification in pediatric advanced life support, according to those sources. That means it was allegedly designed to help firefighters avoid having to study the actual procedures for keeping a young child alive in an emergency.
