Brake Failure May Have Led To DC Fire Truck Colliding With Police Cruiser

Monday afternoon a District of Columbia fire truck smashed into a city police cruiser while on an emergency call and investigators are now looking into a possible brake issue. The fire engine was responding to a call for a report of a fire in a residential area of Northwest D.C. prior to the accident taking place.

North Dakota town denied FEMA grant for railroad emergency training center

Grand Forks officials will have to look elsewhere to fund its emergency response training center. The city did not receive a Federal Emergency Management Agency grant worth nearly $2 million that would have assisted in building the training center. The grant was instead awarded to five other projects.

One person dies in Shelton house fire

One person was reported to have died in a house fire in Shelton Monday night. Firefighters were called to the fire at South 10th Street and Railroad Avenue at 5 p.m. Chopper 7 was over the scene just after 6 p.m. when the fire had burned a hole in the roof. MasonWeb TV.com reports that one person was able to escape from the second floor, but a second person did not make it out and died in the fire.
