Firefighters had their hands full battling a 2-alarm fire at a commercial building in Puyallup Monday morning, according to Central Pierce Fire & Rescue. The fire broke out just after 7 a.m. at Cascade Millwork & Supply on 58th Ave. E, fire officials said. Video shot by firefighter officials showed intense flames burning much of the building, and fire officials said they flames were so intense they had to fight the fire defensively, focusing on keeping it from spreading to neighboring buildings.

The state Department of Natural Resources mistakenly overpaid a private contractor to help fight last year’s Carlton Complex fire in North-Central Washington, according to a state accountability audit released Thursday.
