Seven brush fires in Spokane Co. under investigation

Seven different brush fires have been confirmed by fire officials that started early Monday morning in Spokane County. Washington Department of Natural Resource and Spokane Valley fire are investigating the cause of the fires. Spokane Fire District 8 officials said the fires started from 12:00 a.m.

Fire merger talks in Marysville stalled

Talks of forming a regional fire authority in Marysville have cooled off. The city and the fire district met for months to talk about creating a fire authority, a new government body that would levy taxes and provide fire protection and emergency medical services in the city and surrounding area. Fire authorities have become a fashionable idea in Snohomish County that often flounders on the details.

House boats destroyed in marina fire along Columbia River

Fire crews faced challenging conditions while fighting a 2-alarm fire overnight at Kadow’s Marina along the Columbia River. No one was hurt in the fire. Firefighters arrived at the marina around 10:30 p.m. Sunday to find two burning house boats, with flames spreading to a third. Clark County Fire officials said there aren’t any fire hydrants in the area, and the limited water supply added to problems with the slippery docks and hanging power lines.
