An East Helena man who started wildfires that caused nearly $1 million in damage to bolster his work as firefighter received a 40-year suspended sentence in district court Monday. Frederick J. Maw was 18 years old when authorities arrested him for sparking 20 fires in May 2013. Included in his sentence is that Maw cannot participate in any firefighting efforts.

The Grant County Sheriff said a Moses Lake man has been arrested after investigation into suspicious fires over the past two years. Officials said Kolton Dana, 23, was arrested Friday for multiple charges of arson, domestic violence assault and burglary. He is being held in the Grant County Jail on $100,000 bail.

A collision occurred on Monday in Lynnwood at 33rd and Alderwood Parkway. The roadway was blocked at around 1:30 p.m. Lynnwood fire officials advised one injury had been sustained. Fire officials told KIRO 7 the person suffered only minor injuries. Fire officials shared a photograph of the firefighters comforting two young children at the scene of the crash.
