Yakima arson incidents on the rise

Yakima Firefighters have seen an increase in arson incidents over the past few years. Intentionally and maliciously setting fires is a crime that could result in felony arrest and investigations tap into more resources than just the fire department alone. "It's a multi-jurisdictional thing - so it could involve anywhere from the police department to ATF and the FBI, depending on the severity of the incident," Yakima Fire Department Spokesperson Capt.

New Oak Harbor fire station takes one step forward with approval to advertise

Oak Harbor Fire Chief Ray Merrill is taking one small step forward in a project that’s been talked about for at least a decade. He won approval from the City Council last week to advertise for requests for qualification to find a firm to conduct a feasibility study for a second fire station in the southwest quadrant of the city.

Firefighters resuscitate man found inside burning Spokane home

A house fire sent one man to the hospital with severe burns this morning at Empire and Crestline. The fire sparked about 4:45 a.m. When crews arrived, there was heavy smoke coming from the home. Officials say crews inside were searching the second story on their hands and knees, when they found a 70-year-old man.
