3 fallen firefighters mourned at memorial service

Several thousand people gathered Sunday to honor three U.S. Forest Service firefighters killed battling the Okanogan complex of wildfires. Forest Service Chief Tom Tidwell in a eulogy says the three dedicated their lives to protecting national forests and the communities around them, and for that everyone should be grateful.

Spokane weighs mandatory townhome fire sprinklers

Dan Shier is a sprinkler evangelist, and for good reason. He’s been installing fire suppression systems in businesses for 43 years and is the lead designer for Inland Empire Fire Protection. His son, Marty, is a career firefighter with Spokane County Fire District 10. And, not least, is his experience in September 1993.
