A levy lift to support Clark County Fire District 6, which has seen record-high call volumes in recent years, will go to the voters in November.
The district commissioners voted unanimously on Tuesday to place a levy lid lift on the general election ballot, calling for the levy to be raised from $1.

One man was severely burned when a fire broke out at a home in Beacon Hill Saturday afternoon.
When firefighters arrived at the home in the 5500 block of 20th Ave. S. around 3:40 p.m. they found the flames were so intense they couldn't go inside the home.
A man who had been in the home suffers from mental illness and police found him running a few blocks away, fire officials said.

Surrounded by loved ones, a downtown Renton firefighter received the send-off of a lifetime from local fire departments and the community.
Hundreds of people lined the streets on Sunday to catch a glimpse of Station 11's Donovan Eckhardt. Eckhardt was diagnosed with cancer in 2012, and while it was thought he had beat the disease, it recently came back - forcing Eckhardt to halt the job he loves and has received accolades for.

Crews expect to have the Colvin Creek Fire east of Woodland 100 percent contained by the end of the day, according to Washington Incident Management Team 5 spokeswoman Mary Bean.
Crews had drawn a line completely around the fire fire, which has burned 129 acres on state land in the Colvin Creek drainage, and was 80 percent contained this morning, Bean said.

A semi rig crash unleashed chaos on the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 early Friday, tying up traffic for miles, sparking a huge brush fire and triggering a massive emergency response.
The drama unfolded at about 2:15 a.m. when the semi veered off the freeway near the Southcenter Mall exit. The rig crashed through the guardrail, plowed through thick trees and brush, then plunged down a steep, 40-foot embankment into a narrow ravine.
