Sexual misconduct, witness tampering charges filed against Yakima firefighter

A Yakima Fire Department lieutenant has been formally charged with having sex with a 17-year-old student he was teaching at a local school. Joseph Chinco, 51, was charged Tuesday with first-degree sexual misconduct with a minor and witness tampering, for trying to get her to withdraw her accusation, said Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Steve Jackson.

Fire ravages Louisville's famed Whiskey Row

PHOTOS/VIDEO: The side of a building on Louisville's historic Whiskey Row collapsed after a large blaze erupted there Monday afternoon. Three buildings were damaged in the fire — 111, 113 and 115 West Main Street — all part of a project to redevelop the historic buildings into new lofts, retail and restaurant space called 111 Whiskey Row.

Woman refuses to get off Albuquerque fire truck

VIDEO: Albuquerque's Freedom 4th celebration drew 70,000 people, but while their eyes were on the sky, one woman climbed onto a city fire engine and then refused to come down. "Who said? Who said? Who said I can't be up here?" she asked. Security, fire and police crews tried to get her down. "Because I want to be on top of a fire truck," she told an officer when asked why she wouldn't come down.

Tending to victims of city's violence is Milwaukee paramedic's job

When Lt. Jamaal Perry returns home after finishing a 24-hour shift at 8 a.m. as a Milwaukee Fire Department paramedic, he usually gets the same question: "Did you have a bad night?" his wife, Dana Perry, asks. Most mornings, he says simply, "It was all right." Perry tries to leave his work at the firehouse, to not let the violence he sees on the job come home with him.
