North Texas volunteer firefighters indicted in chorizo sausage sexual assault

An Ellis County grand jury indicted seven volunteer firefighters, including the department's chief and assistant chief, on Wednesday in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a fellow male firefighter with a chorizo sausage in January, according to media reports. Five firefighters with the Emergency Service District Number 6 Volunteer Fire Department in Waxachachie have been indicted on charges of aggravated sexual assault and attempted aggravated sexual assault: Keith Edward Wisakowsky, 26; Casey Joe Stafford, 30; Preston Thomas Peyrot, 19; Alec Chase Miller, 28; and Blake Jerold Tucker, 19.

Alaska firefighters threaten walk-off in snit with borough officials

Tension between the Talkeetna Fire Department and Matanuska-Susitna Borough fire chiefs potentially threatens to leave this Susitna Valley climbing and tourist destination without a hometown firefighting force. Eric Chappel, a Talkeetna fire captain and 17-year responder, got sideways last week with Mat-Su chiefs when he was preparing to use his pickup to pull upright an overturned trailer blocking the Parks Highway.

Texas fire chief stabbed multiple times responding to call

On Tuesday around 11 p.m., a Mitchell County Sheriff’s Deputy was called out to report of a man waving a shot gun in the road. The Deputy, called and asked Brandon Hale, Westbrook Fire Chief to keep an eye on the suspect from a distance until he got there. When the deputy had arrived the suspect had already made his way back to his residence, the deputy went to locate him.

New York firefighter: Arsonist ‘expected me to die’

Nearly 20 feet inside the smoke-filled former synagogue, the words of fellow firefighter Darin Lewis stopped David Abell in his tracks: “I think this is booby-trapped.” That’s when Abell spotted the trip wire connected to two gallon-sized jugs of gasoline. Abell recounted on Tuesday the chilling details of entering the building at 117 Jefferson Ave.

Crews rescue man trapped between two buildings in Seattle

Technical teams worked quickly to free a man who was found wedged between two buildings at 12th Avenue and E. Madison Street Thursday morning. The buildings are about five feet apart, Lieutenant Harold Webb said. Rescuers believe the man came through a window or balcony, and somehow became trapped between the two buildings.
