Connecticut Lieutenant Arrested Over Confrontation With Ranking Officer

A city firefighter has been charged with second-degree breach of peace in connection with an incident at a fire earlier this month. According to Hartford police, Lt. Michael Patterson turned himself in Wednesday afternoon and was released on a promise to appear. He is scheduled to appear in Hartford Superior Court Sept.

It’s spring break for a family when a scenic ride home from a day at Virginia Beach turns into a horrific tragedy. Along a dangerous stretch of narrow road that winds through the wetlands, a car carrying seven people veers off, overcorrects and is t-boned by a pickup truck. As the car slams into a drainage ditch, a child is ejected into the air, leaving six others trapped inside the flattened wreckage.

Documents: Winds shifted minutes before firefighters killed

Seven minutes after a deputy radioed that the wind from a growing wildfire had shifted direction, dispatchers got a second call: A burn victim needed an ambulance. Five minutes later, another caller said several firefighters were trapped. Within the span of 12 minutes, the wildfire in Washington state went from being just one of many lightning-sparked blazes burning across the Pacific Northwest to the scene of the deadliest single wildfire this year in the U.

Edmonds artist honors fallen Washington firefighters

An Edmonds artist is paying tribute to three men who died fighting the Washington wildfires. Andrew Zajac, Richard Wheeler, and Tom Zbyszewski died last week in a fire in Twisp, Washington. Michael Reagan is an artist who has drawn more than 4300 portraits of fallen soldiers and delivered them to their families for free.
