Deputy fire Chief Daniel Nolan has filed a lawsuit against Hartford fire Chief Carlos Huertas and Mayor Pedro Segarra, alleging a sustained violation of his freedom of speech and press rights under the first and 14th amendments to the Constitution. Nolan filed the lawsuit Monday at Superior Court in Hartford.

Spokane fire said Monday a brush fire burning in west Spokane is contained. Officials said the fire started near the Indian Canyon Mobile Home Park off Government way just before noon. Crews said the fire was three acres and was fast moving. Firefighters said there is a transient camp in the woods.

Seven different fire departments have finally contained two large brush fires sparked Saturday evening in Pierce County. As of 1 p.m. Sunday, a containment perimeter had been completed so firefighters can focus on the hot spots remaining in the interior, Central Pierce Fire said. "I never thought that would happen here," resident Carrie Margo said.
