Ohio: The First Street Fire of 1900 destroyed the city block where the Dayton Dragons stadium now stands

PHOTOS: On Feb. 1, 1900, Dayton experienced what could be the largest fire in the city’s history. The blaze started at the in the Leaf Tobacco Warehouses of J.P. Wolf & Son at the northwest corner of First and Foundry streets. Foundry ran north to south starting at First Street and cut through an area where the Dayton Dragons stadium and plaza now stand.

Ballard brewery damaged by fire started by homeless person seeking warmth

VIDEO: Cold winter nights in Western Washington have some people doing whatever they can to stay warm. But one of the owners of Bad Jimmy’s Brewing Co. in Ballard said what appeared to be a warming fire almost cost him his business. Jason Shrum, one of the brewery’s co-owners, said the fire was caught on surveillance and could have been much worse.

Animals evacuated after doggy daycare catches fire in Seattle's Lake City neighborhood

VIDEO: Dozens of dogs were evacuated after the doggy daycare they were in caught fire in north Seattle Wednesday morning. The fire was reported just before 11 a.m. in the 13000 block of Lake City Way Northeast. The fire began inside the Dog Resort, a dog daycare and boarding business, that's across the street from the Fred Meyer in the Lake City neighborhood.

Spokane Valley Fire Department gets new fire truck

The Spokane Valley Fire Department (SVFD) unveiled its new firetruck on Tuesday during a push-in ceremony. The new firetruck will replace the current engine 4, which has been in service since 2003. SVFD's new firetruck has improved reliability and new equipment, which will increase safety in the community.

PHOTOS: Fire damages Wenatchee apartment

A small fire damaged an unoccupied apartment Tuesday in Wenatchee. The fire was reported at 2:26 p.m. on the 400 block of King Street and contained to the basement complex, said Wenatchee Valley Fire Department spokeswoman Kay McKellar. No one was home when the fire began. Crews arrived at 2:31 p.
