The last day of Brandon Norbury’s life began when he clocked in at 7 a.m. for a 24-hour shift at Station 31.
Norbury, a Gresham firefighter for 15 years, had reported for a new assignment that morning, Feb. 3. Station 31, which is near the Portland-Gresham border and responds to calls in both cities, is one of the busiest in the metro area, and Norbury felt like he was coming home.

The University of Massachusetts is warning about a TikTok drinking trend after 28 ambulances were summoned to off-campus parties.
Students were observed Saturday carrying jugs with a mixture of alcohol, electrolytes, flavoring and water, dubbed “blackout rage gallons,” or “BORGs," in a binge-drinking trend gaining traction on TikTok, officials said.

Firefighters with the Bremerton Fire Department responded to a house fire on Monday morning, according to the fire department.
Before 9:30 a.m. Monday, crews responded to a residential fire on Burwell Street, between Hewett Avenue and High Avenue.
Burwell Street around the incident was closed as crews worked the fire.

A FruitSmart Inc. warehouse caught fire on March 2, prompting responses from the West Benton Fire Rescue and Grandview Fire Department. The fire was first reported at the 1100 block of Sheridan Avenue at 11:12 p.m.
Crews on scene were able to isolate the fire to its point of origin, a fan on the west side of the building.

Personnel from Clark County Fire District 3 have discussed placing a measure on the ballot this year to help fund daily operations as call volumes in the district’s coverage area continue to increase.
The district, which serves a population of 46,000 people in east Clark County and Battle Ground, responded to 4,961 calls in 2022.
