Spokane Valley Firefighters rescue young girl stuck in tree

PHOTOS: Firefighters saved a young girl stuck high in a tree in Spokane Valley on Wednesday. The 13-year-old girl had climbed up a tall tree in a wooded area and became stuck roughly 20 feet above the ground. Within minutes of arriving at the scene, SVFD was able to use a ladder to help the girl safely reach the ground.

Where Washington plans to burn ahead of wildfire season

The state Department of Natural Resources will burn about 2,580 acres in Central and Eastern Washington ahead of the summer season, aiming to prevent severe wildfires later. The operations across eight sites could begin as soon as next week and will continue through spring and early summer. Burns may be postponed if weather and other conditions are not met.

Selah Fire Department's first ladder truck now in service

VIDEO: The Selah Fire Department is taking fighting fires to new heights. A new firetruck will allow crews to attack flames from 78-feet in the air. The city's first ever ladder truck has been built, tested, delivered and now, pushed in to mark the start of its service. It's a firefighter tradition from the 1800s, according to SFD Deputy Chief Scott Willis.

The building was fully engulfed as SkyFOX was over the scene shortly before 7:30 a.m. The church, located near the corner of E. 91st Street and Miles Park, has been identified as the former Pentecostal Determine Church of God.

A fake firefighter with a garden hose refused to leave the scene of a deadly blaze in North Carolina, officials told news outlets. Early March 27, the Morganton Department of Public Safety said its crews were called to the fire and spotted a 37-year-old man wearing a New York City Fire Department outfit.
