Fire department in West Virginia now has oxygen masks for pets thanks to national donation program

VIDEO: Sasha, an 8-year-old Czechoslovakian German Shepherd, is the first pet in Beckley to try out a new oxygen mask, made just for pets. Her handler, Jerry Johnson of the Raleigh County Community Emergency Response Team, reached out to the company, Invisible Fence, to get a free mask kit for Beckley Fire Department, through a program called Project Breathe.

Air Force Grounds Fleet of B-2 Stealth Bombers After Malfunction Leads to Emergency Landing and Fire

The Air Force has grounded its entire fleet of B-2 stealth bombers following an emergency landing and fire earlier this month, and none of the strategic aircraft will perform flyovers at this years' college bowl games. A bomber experienced an in-flight malfunction on Dec. 10, forcing it to make an emergency landing at Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri, where it caught fire.

Fire destroys Richland home, firefighters battle blaze in single-digit temps

Fire destroyed a Richland home early Thursday morning. The call for help came in just after 12:30 a.m. and dispatch reported the homeowner said the home was fully engulfed in flames. Several fire crews responded to the 2000 block of Kuhn Street and within minutes were working to put out the blaze. Firefighters tried attacking the fire from several spots around the house, but it may be considered a total loss.

Elderly man pinned under bulldozer in Longview, rescued

A 73-year-old man was rescued from under a bulldozer in Longview, Wash. on Wednesday, according to Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue. Firefighters responded just after 2:30 p.m. to the 3300 block of Coal Creek Road. According to firefighters, the man had been replacing rollers on one of the bulldozer tracks when he became pinned under the machine.

Crews extinguish residential fire that displaces one near Mica

Firefighters extinguished a residential fire near Mica on Wednesday morning, fire officials said. Crews were dispatched at 9:25 a.m. and arrived within three minutes to the 12000 block of U.S. Route 27, Fire District 8 Fire Chief Lonnie Rash said. Fire crews, including ones from Spokane Valley, spotted smoke coming from the home’s attic and garage, and had the fire under control within 15 minutes, he said.
