Excited dog accidentally pulls fire alarm at Iowa day care

PHOTO: An Iowa dog apologized to a local fire department after getting so excited to go to dog camp that she accidentally pulled the fire alarm. Birdie goes to dog camp at Dogwoods Lodge in Grimes. β€œShe just arrived for day camp and was just bouncing around and bounced into the fire alarm, pushed it in, pulled it down and that was it,” said Jessica Tapper, owner of Dogwoods Lodge.

Massachusetts firefighter asks public for help after his car, gear stolen

PHOTOS: A Lawrence firefighter is turning to the public for help after his car and department helmet were stolen in Wilmington. Firefighter Patrick Sweeney told Boston 25 News he parked his car in the back of the Regency Place around 10 p.m. on Sunday night and woke up Monday morning to his Dodge Charger HellCat missing from the lot.

Freezing fog was 'main contributor' to 30-vehicle crash near Ellensburg

VIDEO/PHOTOS: All lanes of eastbound Interstate 90 closed east of Ellensburg Wednesday morning due to a crash involving 30 vehicles, according to Washington State Patrol (WSP) Trooper Collin Cumaravel. Eastbound I-90 is closed about five miles east of Ellensburg at milepost 115. The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) said traffic is being diverted at exit 115.

DNR Buys Cowlitz County Fire Station, Improving Wildland Firefighting Capacity

The Washington State Department of Natural Resources is purchasing a former Cowlitz 2 Fire and Rescue fire station outside Longview to better support wildland firefighting capacity in southwest Washington. The Board of Natural Resources approved the $995,000 transaction Tuesday morning during its monthly meeting in Olympia.

Fire destroys South Whidbey workshop

A renowned South Whidbey chainsaw carver lost his entire woodshop and belongings to an early morning fire on Friday. According to South Whidbey Fire/EMS, personnel responded to the Glendale Road address in Clinton at 1:45 a.m. on Dec. 2. Firefighters arrived to find a burning shed and worked swiftly to keep the fire from spreading to nearby structures – including a mobile home – and a propane tank.
