After a Christmas tree in Seattle caught fire because of faulty lights, a family is looking at an estimated loss of $100,000. The fire happened in a home at the 3000 block of NW 63rd St. in Seattle Sunday morning. There were no injuries as a result of the fire. Fires that occur because of holiday lights begin to become common as the year ends, according to Seattle Fire Line.

Kittitas County Sherrif officers have made an arrest in connection to a fire that destroyed multiple buildings on Friday. According to a post on their Facebook page, detectives served a search warrant on an apartment on East Helena Avenue in Ellensburg arresting 24-year-old Lyle Morgan on First Degree Arson charges.

Boulder County residents have a new fire station with the opening of the Lefthand Fire Protection District Station 1, KDVR.com reported.

The new $3.5 million station was paid for through a construction fund, state grant, lease purchase and community fundraising, the report said.

Forty-four firefighters now have a space to call their own that includes a modern gathering area, kitchen, six dorm rooms and training facilities, according to the report. The equipment area has extensive storage space for vehicles and fire mitigation tools.

The Trout Creek Volunteer Fire Department has honored the memory of a recently deceased firefighter by placing his name on the side of the fire truck that he operated for many years, KJAS.com reported.

Keith Allen Powers was only 45 years old when he died September 10, the report said. A longtime member of the Trout Creek Volunteer Fire Department, he was captain over Brush Truck No. 44 in the Old Salem area where he lived.

On the door of the truck, the fire department has placed the statement “In loving memory of Keith Powers”.
