Scioto Township (OH) Cuts the Hose on New Fire Station

The Scioto Township Fire Department celebrated the grand opening of the newly-constructed firehouse Monday, CirclevilleHerald.com reported.

The new firehouse, located at 400 Walker Road near the southeastern outskirts of Commercial Point, features five bay doors, a large community room, additional bunk space, a full weight room, and a larger kitchen all above and beyond what the department currently has at its space at Harsh Alley, the report said.

The department held a brief ceremony on the apparatus floor of the 14,000 square-foot facility before transitioning to the hose cutting outside the structure, the report said.

Santa Maria (CA) Fire Department Donates Fire Truck to Guatemalan Firefighters

The Santa Maria Fire Department donated a fire truck to Guatemalan firefighters in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Pismo and Grover Beach, KSBY.com reported.

This came after hearing the Antigua Guatemala Fire Department was in need.

The Santa Maria Fire Department discovered the need for a truck through an email that got circulated to local fire departments from Steven Curry, the international service director of the Rotary Club of Pismo and Grover Beach, the report said.

The email explained that Antigua Guatemala Fire Department needed a fire truck as they only had one old Ford 150 with a water tank in the back, according to the report.

The city council then sold the fire truck to the Rotary Club for a dollar and then donated the truck to the Guatemalan firefighters, the report said.

VIDEO: Large Fire Burns at California Home Goods Warehouse

Firefighters are battling a large fire burning at a home goods warehouse in Huntington Park. The fire was reported at Slauson Avenue and Soto Street in the community south of downtown Los Angeles. There were no immediate reports of injuries. Details about a cause were not immediately available. Firefighters were in defensive mode, meaning conditions inside the building were too dangerous for firefighters to enter the structure.

Driver charged in deadly crash at Apple Store in Massachusetts held on $100K bail

VIDEOS: The driver of an SUV that barreled through the front of an Apple Store in Hingham on Monday, killing one person and injuring 19 others, has been ordered held on $100,000 cash bail in connection with the chaotic crash. Bradley Rein, 53, was arraigned Tuesday in Hingham District Court on charges of reckless homicide by a motor vehicle and reckless operation of a motor vehicle, according to Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz.

Deadly MGM Grand fire in Las Vegas 42 years ago changed worldwide safety standards
