Lake McMurray fire station damaged by fire

An early-morning fire Tuesday burned a significant portion of the Lake McMurray fire station, leaving staff looking for a way to continue to provide service to residents of Skagit County Fire District 15. Staff were working Tuesday evening to draft a plan for call response. The department should be able to respond to emergency calls after Tuesday evening, said Fire Chief Stuart Kranick.

Clark County District 6 hopes to renew 2020 levy to relieve firefighters

A fire district in Clark County is asking for help to relieve their firefighters. Clark County Fire District 6 is growing exponentially and Chief Kristan Maurer says they’re trying to keep up. Last year they responded to almost 12,000 calls in their 37-square-mile service area. She said their call volume has gone up 33% in the last five years, and it’s taking a toll.

VIDEO: Three-alarm fire engulfs historic church in Missouri

A three-alarm fire engulfed a historic vacant church Monday night in St. Louis. The St. Louis Fire Department responded at around 8:45 to a fire at the former St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, located at 3114 Lismore St., in the St. Louis Place neighborhood. The building is designated as a St. Louis City Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

New Hampshire firefighters among first in the nation to get PFAS-free gear

When former Concord firefighter Chris Andrews introduced himself to city councilors, he described himself as “a cancer survivor — at least for now.” At the outset of his career, new types of protective gear, including the addition of breathing equipment and innovations in boot and pant materials, had made Andrews feel safer than his predecessors.
