Highland Park (MI) Firefighter Thrown After Car Hits Fire Truck

A Highland Park (MI) firefighter was thrown into the air and on to a freeway after a suspected drunk driver hit a fire truck blocking the scene of a previous incident on Sunday night, according to a report published by WDIV.

Firefighters were off at the scene of a vehicle fire on Davison Freeway, near Third Avenue, when woman struck the fire truck resulting in a firefighter being thrown into the air and on to the freeway, according to the report, which added the firefighter didn’t appear to have any significant injuries but was transported to a local hospital to be checked out.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the fire truck was taken to the hospital to have a blood sample taken for suspected drunk driving.

Petal (MS) Gets New Fire Truck

Firefighters with the Petal (MS) Fire Department will now be responding with a new Pierce Saber pumper, according to a story published by WDAM7.

The television station said the new apparatus is a major update to the fire department’s fleet and will help the community keep its ISO rating at four.

It has a 450 hp Cummins engine and a 1,500 gallon per minute pump as well as rollover protection and state-of-the-art electronics, the station reported.

Dependability was one of the biggest reasons the department chose to purchase a Pierce pumper along with the company’s reputation for after-sales service, the station reported.

Four Detroit Firefighter, Driver Hurt in Fire Truck Crash

A Detroit fire truck responding to a call hit a car and a house injuring four firefighters and the driver of a Mercedes who is in serious condition, according to a report published by Fox2Detroit.

The television station reported the crash happened on the east side of the city Monday night and a Detroit captain was ejected from the truck but is expected to be OK.

The woman driving the sedan had to be removed from the car with extrication tools, the station reported.

The crash occurred at about 5 pm at the intersection of Forrest and McClellan avenues, according to the report, that said the fire truck and the car collided sending the car into the house.

The firefighters were responding to a reported high-rise fire that was reportedly minor with no injuries, the television station reported, adding the cause of the crash is under investigation.

Gainesville (FL) Fire Rescue Welcomes New ALS Truck with Push-In Ceremony

According to a report from WCJB, Gainesville (FL) Fire Rescue hosted a push-in ceremony for Ladder 9, its latest advanced life support ladder truck.

Built by E-ONE in Ocala, Florida, the engine holds 500 gallons of water and features a 100-foot ladder.



Ladder 9 will be deployed with state-certified emergency medical technicians and at least one state-certified paramedic.

The ceremony began at 9 a.m. and was held at Fire Station 9, located at 4213 Southwest 30th Avenue (Butler Plaza).

Area neighbors were also invited to attend and help GFR members push the engine into the truck bay as a tribute to the days before motorized fire trucks.
