Meadville (PA) Is on Track to Purchase $874K Aerial

Officials in Meadville (PA) have agreed to purchase a new $874,841.78 aerial for the fire department, according to a story published by The Meadville Tribune.

The new aerial will replace a 28-year-old ladder truck, the newspaper reported, noting the new truck will be made by the Sutphen Corporation of Dublin, OH.

Meadville is planning to pay for the truck with money through planned capital improvement borrowing, the paper said.

Once the financing is in place, it’s expected to take between 12 and 14 months for the new SLR 75 aerial to be built, the newspaper reported.

Hastings (NE) Fire and Rescue to Hold Ceremony for New Apparatus

Hastings (NE) Fire and Rescue is hosting a ceremony for its new apparatus, Quint 1, at Station 1—1313 N. Hastings Ave.—today at 4 p.m., reports ksnblocal.com.

Community members will also get a chance to explore the station via an open house.

The purchase was approved as part of last year’s budget, at a cost of $993,000 including equipment. Wisconsin-based Pierce Manufacturing began production of the apparatus in March, and it was delivered to Hastings on July 14.

Ladder 1 and Engine 1 will be retired during the ceremony. In addition, the report says, six firefighters were recently sworn in as Fire Apparatus Operators, and a badge-pinning ceremony will be held during the event.
