Equipment Failures Force Closure of One Shreveport (LA) Fire Department Station

Equipment failures have forced the closure of at least one station for the Shreveport (LA) Fire Department, reports 710keel.com.

Officials say the department’s aging fleet is breaking down—an engine at Station 1 broke down and an engine from North Shreveport’s Station 2 had to be moved to provide proper coverage. This led to the closing of Station 2 on Saturday, which, officials add, is a temporary situation.

An official adds just four of the city’s 21 fire engines meet national standards in terms of age—staffing issues are also a concern, the official says.

The report also says that Station 12 at Bert Kouns and Woolworth Road is back open after a five-day closure.
