Pasco County (FL) Breaks Ground on Fire Station

Pasco County Fire Rescue will hold a groundbreaking event for its new fire station, reports Tampa Bay Times.

The 18,504-square-foot station is designed with the health of firefighters in mind, with a system of three zones to protect firefighters from carcinogens and pathogens.

The station is one of two stations under construction that will use this three-zone systems. Both stations are funded by approvals from Pasco voters.

Other health and well-being considerations include a new alert system that will protect firefighters’ health by awakening them more gently and alerting only the people who need to respond to a call.

The fire station will also have bigger bays to hold large specialty vehicles, a training classroom and a room where additional firefighters can stay during major emergencies.
