DeSoto (TX) Fire Rescue to Hold Ribbon-Cutting for 14,200-Square-Foot Station 2

DeSoto (TX) Fire Rescue will hold a ribbon-cutting for its new Station 2 next Saturday, May 29, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Construction of the 14,200-square-foot combined facility at 206 S. Parks Drive was approved by voters in a 2014 bond referendum. The new digs includes:

  • Sleeping alcove bunk rooms with adjacent dayroom, kitchen, dining area, and physical agility room.
  • Offices for Fire Administration and Fire Prevention staff.
  • DeSoto’s Emergency Operations Center.
  • Community safe room funded by a grant from FEMA that can withstand winds up to 250 mph with three-second wind gusts. This room will also serve as a multi-purpose community meeting and training space.

The ribbon-cutting will be followed by refreshments and a tour of the facility.

Scarborough (ME) Fire Department Receives New Pierce Pumper

The Scarborough (ME) Fire Department (SFD) recently took delivery of its new a 2021 Pierce pumper, reports portlandpressherald.com.

The new apparatus replaces SFD’s 1989 reserve engine after 32-years of service, will be assigned to the Pine Point station as Engine 4, and is SFD’s first new truck since 1981.

The pumper will undergo some work and receive equipment, tools, and a hose, and the crews will be trained on it. It’s expected to see its first action by mid-June.

“Congratulations to the Scarborough ME Fire Department and the Pine Point Fire Station on the delivery of their new Pierce Enforcer pumper assigned to Engine 4,” the department wrote on Facebook. “Engine 4 features a Cummins L9 450hp engine, 1500GPM Waterous CSU pump with rear Inlet, 750 gallon water tank with a low NY style hose bed. Whelen Pioneer scene lighting. Hot Dipped Galvanized packaged that includes; frame rails, cross members, water tank cradle, body and pump house structure and front bumper extension for superior corrosion protection. Allegiance Fire and Rescue would like to thank the Scarborough Fire Department for their trust in Pierce apparatus and Allegiance Fire & Rescue. We look forward to working with you in the future”

Retired Virginia Firefighters Increase Rehab Services with New Rig

The donation of a 1988 Rehab Truck from Goochland County will result in a quicker response time and quicker aid for first responders in need.
