The purpose of the Fire Mechanics Section is to promote standardization of fire apparatus and equipment preventative maintenance, improve safety standards and practices, promote workshops, conferences, and seminars related to the purposes of this Section, and to promote cost savings through standardization of building and equipment purchasing and maintenance.

Voters Will Consider Londonderry (MA) Fire Station Upgrade Plan

At a public bond hearing Dec. 18, fire officials came before Town Council to give updates on the plan that, if approved, would expand the station space, add more room for equipment and better facilities for fire staff, administration and services.

Fire Chief Darren O’Brien told councilors and those attending the meeting that the proposed expansion plan would take the Mammoth Road station into the future as a well-equipped, successful facility to serve the community and its residents.

O’Brien also remembered his father, also a Londonderry firefighter, who had a part in the original building and its construction dating back decades.
