Marin Firefighter Injured after Engine Crashes into Tree

A Marin County firefighter was taken to the hospital with "non-critical" facial injuries after the fire engine he was taking to a vehicle accident crashed into a fir tree on Mount Tamalpais on Saturday, authorities said. Engine 1585, from out of the Throckmorton Ridge Fire Station, was responding to a vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on Panoramic Highway just after 10 a.m.

The engineer driving the truck was uninjured but the passenger, a 24-year-old seasonal firefighter whose name was not released, suffered injuries and was taken to Marin General Hospital. The firefighter as of Saturday afternoon was reportedly in an emergency room in stable condition.

The fire engine’s cab was totalled, McTigue said.

“It’ll be taken over to the county garage,” he said. “The mechanic will start looking at it to look at the extent of damage.”
