Turners Falls Fire District Seeks New Ladder Truck

TURNERS FALLS - The Turners Falls Fire Department will be seeking a new ladder truck at this year's annual district meeting set for April 18.The fire district is requesting either $150,000 for the first year payment of the lease, or $996,000 to...

The fire district is requesting either $150,000 for the first year payment of the lease, or $996,000 to purchase the truck outright. Turners Falls Fire Chief John Zellmann said whether they end up requesting the lease or the purchase depends on which option is more affordable for the town.

4 Scappoose Firefighters Injured in Fire Truck Accident

Four firefighters were taken to the hospital after the fire truck they were in was involved in an accident, according to the Scappoose Fire District. Spokeswoman Cheryl Engstrom said the firefighters were being evaluated for non-life threatening injuries. The incident happened at about 9:30 on Raymond Creek Road.

An on-scene division chief told KATU News that the fire truck rolled into a ditch about 100 yards from the training site.

The 2016-model engine is one of three engine trucks owned by the station. It boasts a 1,000-gallon tank and one of the "fancier" features of the truck is the new LED scene lighting. The control and access panels are also sporting the latest technology, similar to an iPad, according to Assistant Fire Chief Paul Morris.

New Fire Engine for Deer Springs
