The purpose of the Fire Mechanics Section is to promote standardization of fire apparatus and equipment preventative maintenance, improve safety standards and practices, promote workshops, conferences, and seminars related to the purposes of this Section, and to promote cost savings through standardization of building and equipment purchasing and maintenance.

Investigation Reveals Years of Complaints About Mold and Leaks in Seminole County (FL) Fire Station

9 Investigates uncovered years of complaints about leaks and mold that are making Seminole County firefighters stationed in Winter Springs feel sick. Investigative reporter Karla Ray got a look at recent upgrades meant to address the issues inside Station 24.
9 Investigates found the recent upgrades came after years of temporary fixes. Maintenance notes from summer 2012 describe “mold seeping through new paint” and emails about mold behind electrical covers. One email stated, “There is mold in the wall, and it is a health hazard for our personnel. This has to be addressed.”

Six Injured After Firetruck Is Involved in Crash on The Beltway in Maryland

Two crashes at the same location early Saturday on the inner loop of the Washington Beltway in Maryland - one involving a firetruck - left six people injured and shut down the highway for several hours, according to police and fire officials. None of the injuries was life threatening, the Prince George's County Fire Department said.
