The purpose of the Fire Mechanics Section is to promote standardization of fire apparatus and equipment preventative maintenance, improve safety standards and practices, promote workshops, conferences, and seminars related to the purposes of this Section, and to promote cost savings through standardization of building and equipment purchasing and maintenance.

Owensboro (KY) Debuts New $1.1M Fire Apparatus

As he gazed at the Owensboro Fire Department's new, $1.1 million Sutphen ladder firetruck, gleaming in the mid-morning sun at the Walter Freeman Regional Fire Training Center on Wednesday, firefighter and ladder truck driver Mark Kurz could only smile. "It looks like a Cadillac to me, compared to the 1999," Kurz said.

Waco (TX) Fire Department Asking for Upgrades to Fire Stations

Anticipating growth in the city of Waco, the Waco Fire Department is requesting the city to upgrade several of its fire stations.
It is asking the city to rebuild fire station 6, which is one of its oldest and busiest fire stations, in the same area where is currently located.

That station is located in the 2800 block of Bosque Boulevard and was built in 1940.

Richmond (VA) Fire Department Celebrates New Truck

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) - Richmond Fire Department Station 10 celebrated adding a new truck to their fleet of engines on Wednesday. The department invited the community to a housing ceremony, a tradition that dates back to the 1800's. Officials said including the community embodies the connection between firefighters and the citizens they serve.
