Fire Station that Housed 19 Fallen Arizona Firefighters Could Go on Sale

The fire station that housed Prescott's Granite Mountain Hotshots, and later served as a repository for the community's grief for the 19 fallen crew members, could go on the market soon.
That is the word from city officials, who reported this week that the two-and-a-half-month waiting period for sale of Station 7 produced no proposals by the May 1 deadline.

“We didn’t get anything from the families,” Prescott City Manager Michael Lamar said Friday, May 5.

At the request of Hotshot family members, the council agreed to delay advertising the Station 7 parcel to allow time for an alternative plan.

Victorville (CA) Approves Purchase of Fire Equipment

Victorville City Council approved a recommendation to purchase 66 Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) packs to be used by San Bernardino County Fire. "County Fire must replace SCBA packs before August 31st, 2017 due to current equipment expiring and the need to upgrade packs to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1981; 2013 Edition," stated an internal office memo from Assistant Chief Dan Mejia.

Grapevine (TX) Donates Fire Apparatus to Fire Academy

NW Campus' Fire Academy students have been given the opportunity to broaden their learning experience through a donated fire truck. The City of Grapevine Fire Department donated the 1999 E-1 Quint with a 75-foot ladder to TCC to provide future firefighters with higher-level training tools.
Physical abilities tests can be performed on NW through the donated truck. The tests assess a student’s ability to complete the physical task of fighting fires such as maneuvering through dark tunnels, riding up on the 75-foot ladder, dragging hoses and carrying equipment.
