Dallas Fire-Rescue battled a three-alarm fire at a shopping center Friday morning, and a fire engine went off the road in responding to it.

The call to the commercial building in the 11000 block of Harry Hines Boulevard came in at about 7 a.m. and quckly escalated to three alarms, WFAA reported.

The first responding crews found a large fire under way and called for more resources, eventually sounding four alarms.

The fire truck accident happened at Joe Field Road and Reeder Road.

No injuries have been reported in the incident.

The Hannibal (MO) Fire Department was awarded $8,726 and will use it to buy some new gear, wgem.com reported.

The fire department applied for a grant through the Missouri Department of Public Safety for technical rescue equipment, the report said.

A fire official said they will use that money to purchase harnesses, rope, rope rescue hardware, helmets and stretchers, according to the report.

The Anniston (AL) City Council voted Tuesday night to replace two aging fire trucks, The Anniston Star reported.

The council passed a resolution authorizing $1,318,000 to purchase two heavy-duty pumper fire engines for the Anniston Fire Department, according to the report. The two Sutphen heavy-duty custom pumpers will be purchased from Williams Fire Apparatus, as a part of the competitive bidding process utilized by the H-GAC purchasing cooperative, the report said.

The fire engines will be purchased with Rescue Act funds along with the fire tax revenue, a city official said.

California boat builder Moose Boats announced it has been awarded a new contract from Alameda City Fire Department for the construction of an M2–38 Catamaran fire boat, MarineLink.com reported.

The M2 – 38 aluminum catamaran will be powered by twin Cummins QSB6.7L 480HP turbo diesel engines coupled to twin Hamilton HJX29 water-jets, the report said. Darley pumps will provide 5,000GPM of water through two 5” discharges, two 4” discharges, eight 2.5” discharges and four monitors.

The fire boat will allow for deployment of fire attack hose lines in addition to supplemental water supply for land-based operations, the report said. Additionally, the new Moose Fire Boat will provide for enhanced dive and water rescue operations with an integrated dive/recovery platform for the AFD Dive Team, according to the report. The catamaran also has a draft of under 24”, which gives it the ability to operate in the shallow waters that surround Alameda.

The Alameda Fire Department serves the city of Alameda, where a majority of the city is an island within the San Francisco Bay accessible only by multiple bridges and the Posey & Webster Tubes, the report said. 

The Spokane Valley Fire Department (SVFD) said goodbye to its longtime furry firefighter, Mako. Born April 14, 2009, Mako the arson dog was an English Lab that died on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2022. Throughout his career, Mako worked nearly 200 fire scenes and helped with more than 20 law enforcement agencies and fire departments in Washington and Idaho.
