Former Florida firefighter amputee reignites passion for golf

On her home golf course in Bloomingdale, Patti Valero is far removed from the night her life changed forever. It was 2009 and Valero was riding on her motorcycle when she was hit by a wrong-way drunk driver. Though she doesn't remember how it happened, Valero does remember waking up days later in a hospital.

Retired Texas firefighter launches non-profit as mental health resource for first responders

VIDEO: Ray Schufford spent nearly 30 years saving lives as part of Dallas Fire-Rescue. But he says his calling came to him during his last years as chaplain. "I felt like God was placing me in a position that I could help so many other people because of the things that I had gone through, personally in my own life, because I could actually speak to whatever they were dealing with," said Schufford.

Vancouver commercial building fire draws 8 engines to suppress

Eight fire engines and two ladder trucks rushed to the scene of a commercial structure fire in the early hours of Tuesday, Nov. 15, the Vancouver Fire Department said. The building, on Northeast 117th Avenue in Vancouver, was found emitting heavy amounts of smoke, fire officials said. They immediately began suppressing the fire and managed to contain it in about an hour.

Fire at Tri-Cities RV Park destroys mobile home; kills two dogs

Another family is now without a house after their mobile home caught fire late Tuesday night in Kennewick. Firefighters with the Kennewick Fire Departments responded to a single-wide mobile home fire at the Tri-Cities RV Park located off Bonnie Ave. Once on scene, officials said the flames had completely engulfed the mobile home and spread to two travel trailers.

Conditions 'more promising' as firefighting efforts continue near Chinook

Fire crews from Pacific County and the Washington State Department of Natural Resources have been battling a wildfire near Chinook. The fire currently has no containment and the community of Chinook has been issued a Level One Evacuation Notice. A level one evacuation notice means that residents should prepare to leave if conditions worsen.
