Bayonne (NJ) Equal Opportunity Foundation Buys New Fire Truck for City

The Bayonne Equal Opportunity Foundation is purchasing a new $593,000 fire truck for the city, TapInto.net reported.

BEOF Executive Director Samantha Howard the money is being allocated out of Community Development Block Grants, noting that historically – going back about 45 years – CDBG funds were used for such a purpose, the report said.

The city council voted recently to accept the gift.

The fire truck is a Spartan Metro Star, which features a 94-inch wide cab that is configured with an extensive range of premium systems and components.

Cornwall (VT) Volunteer Fire Department Adds New Engine

The Cornwall Volunteer Fire Department recently took delivery of its much-anticipated new frontline engine that features tablet control and other 21st century advances, AddisonIndependent.com reported.

Cornwall VFD will show off its new computer-controlled pumper truck at its open house noon-3 p.m. Saturday, October 22.

Yakima Firefighters Enjoying an Apple a Day

Everyone loves an apple and thanks to some local growers local firefighters are eating apples as part of a program called Apples for Firefighters. Alan Taylor of Taylor Ann Enterprises L.L.C. who is coordinating the program for a second year says the idea came from his son who was named Firefighter of the Year in 2020 with the East Valley Fire District.

VIDEO: Driver of stolen U-Haul opens fire on another vehicle following fiery crash in Texas

A stolen U-Haul went up in flames after a driver led police on a miles-long chase in west Houston early Wednesday morning, according to the Houston Police Department. This happened on the Westpark Tollway service road at Dairy Ashford. Houston Transtar cameras caught the end of the chase where the U-Haul truck caught fire.

Wisconsin launches $1 million program to collect firefighting foam containing toxic 'forever chemicals'

Fire departments throughout Wisconsin will soon have the chance to safely dispose of firefighting foam containing toxic "forever chemicals" free of charge. The Department of Natural Resources announced the beginning of its foam collection program, which received $1 million in funding from the current state budget.
