Opioid related overdoses continue to rise in Milwaukee County. The county’s medical examiner reports that 80% of confirmed drug deaths this year involved fentanyl, with the county on track for 700+ drug related deaths this year.
Now, local law enforcement agencies like the Oak Creek Fire Department are working to slow down those numbers by handing out Narcan Hope Kits.

U.S. Highway 2 northeast of Seattle will stay shut between Index and Skykomish through at least Monday as crews working on the Bolt Creek fire clear debris and secure trees and boulders that could crash onto the roadway.
The closure could last longer, The Seattle Times reported. On Wednesday night, officials said a large fire-weakened Douglas fir tree fell and slid downhill across the highway and through the guardrail.

Fire crews worked together Thursday morning to battle a wildfire on DNR land near Joyce.
Clallam 2 Fire Rescue Chief Jake Patterson says they got the call to assist from Clallam 4 about 8:50am. He says a column of smoke was visible coming from a fire burning in a clear-cut with heavy slash around a logging landing site.

Renters and homeowners in Moses Lake are likely going to see their insurance rates go down in 2023 following an improvement in the city’s community rating, according to Moses Lake Fire Chief Brett Bastian.
“They looked at everything, and we significantly improved from the last time,” Bastian told council members at a regular meeting on Tuesday.

Three cars were on fire under a carport in Pierce County early Friday morning.
West Pierce Fire and Rescue crews responded to the call, which came in around 3:15 a.m. When they arrived, they found three vehicles on fire under a carport at 8101 83rd Ave SW in Lakewood. Crews quickly extinguished the fire.
