Part of Wall Collapses During Construction of New Albany (IN) Fire Station

A construction collapse occurred at a new fire station being built in New Albany (IN) on Monday, WDRB.com reported

Part of the wall collapsed in an accident, causing damage to the frame of the structure that is being built along Charlestown Road, the report said. 

In a Facebook post, Mayor Jeff Gahan said the damage was minimal.

The Facebook post said: “We are very thankful that no one was injured,” stated Mayor Jeff Gahan. “Overall, the damage is minimal. Once completed, the firehouse is going to be a wonderful addition to fire protection for the neighborhood and the City of New Albany.”

The new station is replacing the Twin Oaks fire station, which has been around since 1964. It is being paid for by American Rescue Plan money, according to the report.

Pullman Fire Department blazes through live fire training

Opportunities for the Pullman Fire Department to practice on structures in Pullman are rare, coming about once every five years, said Fire Chief Mike Heston said. From 1-6:30 p.m. Monday afternoon on the 900 block of NW Guy Street, firefighters were able to receive live fire training, according to a City of Pullman Twitter post.

VIDEO: Michigan firefighters rescue trapped woman from raging fire while sheriff’s deputies man water hoses

PHOTOS: A woman is in critical condition Monday, Sept. 19, after being rescued from her back deck during a raging house fire. The woman, whose name has not been released, was trapped on the deck of the Cutlerville home. Kent County sheriff’s deputies could not reach the woman but firefighters from Cutlerville, Dutton Township and Kentwood were able to rescue her while deputies sprayed water from fire hoses.
