Slinger (WI) Fire Department to Hold Open House October 11

Slinger Fire Department invites everyone to its 2022 Fire Prevention Open House and education event on Tuesday, October 11 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Slinger Community Park, WashingtonCountyInsider.com.

There will be two different live fire Palmer house demonstrations designed to educate and entertain. 

While you are there, check out the Slinger Fire Department’s newest truck specifically designed for long narrow driveways and tight spaces and the new water rescue boat. 

Kids get a picture with Sparky, sit in the driver’s seat of a fire truck or enjoy the fire truck slide.

While at the event be sure to sign up for a raffle providing a ride home from school in a fire truck. Last year’s wining child enjoyed the celebration.

Mississippi fire crews spend hours trying to douse fire after blaze erupts at old, abandoned warehouse building

An old, abandoned warehouse building goes up in flames Tuesday evening in downtown Jackson. The facility, which used to be an old recycling building, is located at the intersection of Monument and Palmyra Streets. Crews with the Jackson Fire Department spent hours putting out the blaze. Chief Willie Owens says the fire broke out around 4 p.

VIDEO: Firefighting robot demonstration held in Pennsylvania

You expect to find firefighters at a fire department. But what you may not expect to find is a firefighting robot like the one on display at the Greenwood Fire Department in Moosic. It's called the Super Vac TAF 35 Mobile Firefighting Robot. It's remote-controlled and can pour 1,200 gallons of water a minute on a fire.

Fire Department of New York hosts national event over concerns about e-bike, e-scooter battery fires

Following concerns about the rise of e-bike and e-scooter fires in the US, firefighters hosted a national event to raise awareness about the potential risks posed by lithium-ion batteries. Hosted by the Fire Department of New York in mid-September, the symposium was attended by 300 people from across North America, including the National Bicycle Dealers Association president Heather Mason.
