Fayetteville (AR) Plans Opening for New Fire Station

The City of Fayetteville (AR) invites the public to attend the opening of a new fire station on Friday, Aug. 5, at 8 a.m. The event will take place at Fayetteville Fire Station No. 9, located at 2250 S. School Ave, according to a news release from the city.

This project is part of an infrastructure bond program approved by Fayetteville voters as one of 10 separate questions during a special election held in April 2019. Phase 1 of this bond project will provide two of the planned three additional fire stations, as well as apparatus to support ongoing growth for fire and emergency response. The new facilities will be staffed with existing personnel and fire companies.

The city analyzes call history and historical response time data using its Geographic Information Systems. Analyses show that if additional fire stations can be placed in the most optimal locations, parts of the city could see a minute decrease in response times, which could have a critical impact for lives and property.

Fayetteville Mayor Lioneld Jordan and Fire Chief Brad Hardin will share brief remarks during the event. Parking at the station is limited; carpooling is encouraged.

Maine antique fire truck is still going strong after 100 years

PHOTOS: It has raced to fires, rolled through parades, is part of a museum and still works. One hundred years after “Old Engine One” first rolled into Caribou, the 1922 American LaFrance pumper is still the pride and joy of the city’s fire and EMS department. In a time when old vehicles end up in metal compactors, the city of Caribou sees the treasure in its first fire truck and works hard to preserve it.
