Adult & child rescued from overturned boat on Puget Sound by King County firefighters

PHOTOS: On Sunday afternoon, Feb. 4, 2024, an adult and child capsized in their watercraft while on Puget Sound waters off the shores of Normandy Park. King County Fire District #2 and South King Fire & Rescue units responded. KCFD2 launched a rescue boat from the south beach at Three Tree Point, where whitecaps could be seen offshore.

Napavine fire district welcomes new chief

Napavine residents are encouraged to make their way downtown to meet Lewis County Fire District 5’s new chief, Brent Adams. A lifelong Washington state resident who has had careers in construction, fire and law enforcement, Adams left a lieutenant position at the Key Peninsula Fire Department in Pierce County last month to take on the role of fire chief in Napavine.

Crews fight fire at home for sale in Kent

VIDEO/PHOTOS: A vacant house in Kent caught fire early Friday morning. Firefighters were called around 6:15 a.m., according to Puget Sound Fire, to the home near W Meeker St & Naden Ave S. When firefighters arrived, they found the house engulfed by flames. The intensity of the fire prevented crews from entering the home to confirm that nobody was inside at the time.

Colorado: Denver's oldest serving fire station home to first Black firefighters

PHOTOS: It's known to those who served there as the "Pride of the Points." Denver Fire Station 3. The oldest Denver firehouse still in service, built in 1931. And the only station where Black firefighters were assigned until the Denver Fire Department desegregated in 1957. Today the children of these earliest public servants have a deep appreciation for Station 3's commitment to excellence, and the pride that came in serving Denver's Five Points community.
